Our History

History of Einstein Charter Schools

Einstein Charter Schools was founded in 2005 in New Orleans East, a part of the city often forgotten about, but not by us. Our mission has always been to provide high-quality education to the children of this community, focusing on both academic excellence and the holistic development of each student. Recognizing the urgent need for educational reform and stability in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Einstein Charter Schools stepped up to create a safe, nurturing, and academically rigorous environment for students from diverse backgrounds.

In 2006, we opened our first campus, Village de l'Est (VDLE), serving students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. This marked the beginning of our journey to provide comprehensive educational opportunities to the children of New Orleans East.

In 2013, we expanded further by opening Sherwood Forest Elementary, followed shortly by the establishment of Einstein Middle School, catering to 6th through 8th grade students. This expansion allowed us to reach more students and offer a seamless transition through critical educational stages.

In 2016, we took a significant step by starting our high school program with only 9th grade, adding a grade level each year until the program was complete. This high school would eventually re-open as Sarah T. Reed High School. The first class of Einstein graduated in 2020, marking a major milestone in our history.

Since our inception, Einstein Charter Schools has grown significantly, reflecting our commitment to meeting the educational needs of New Orleans East and ensuring that more students have access to our innovative learning programs. We are proud to be the most diverse charter school in New Orleans, celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of our student body.

Throughout our history, Einstein Charter Schools has remained steadfast in our dedication to academic achievement and social-emotional development. We have implemented cutting-edge educational practices, embraced technological advancements, and forged strong partnerships with local organizations to enhance our students' learning experiences. Our schools prioritize personalized learning, critical thinking, and real-world connections, preparing our students for success in college, careers, and life.

Einstein Charter Schools continues to evolve, driven by our belief in continuous improvement and our unwavering commitment to the students and families we serve. We are proud of our rich history and excited about the future as we strive to nurture academically strong, socially resilient, and well-rounded individuals who will positively impact their communities and the world.
